Job Opening: Social Media Specialist / Digital Content Producer

6 Mile Runs seeks a dynamic and creative Social Media Specialist/Digital Content Producer to support a high-profile federal client within a fast-paced public affairs environment. This role will focus on developing and executing social media strategies and producing compelling multimedia content that communicates mission priorities, initiatives, and impact to a broad global audience.

The ideal candidate is a tech-savvy storyteller with strong photography, videography, and editing skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality content under tight timelines. This position requires on-site work during core hours, along with rotational on-call duties to support time-sensitive communications.

Basic Requirements:

  • Manage and optimize content across all major social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Rumble, Truth Social, and emerging platforms) to ensure consistent branding and audience engagement.
  • Capture high-quality photos and shoot videos during events, press briefings, and other departmental activities.
  • Edit videos using Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Premiere Pro, After Effects) to create polished, professional content for social media distribution.
  • Design and produce eye-catching social media graphics using tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva.
  • Collaborate with the team to plan and maintain the content calendar, including brainstorming ideas, scheduling posts, and analyzing performance metrics.
  • Monitor social media trends, respond to audience interactions, and provide real-time support during crises or high-visibility events.
  • Assist in developing strategies to increase follower growth, engagement rates, and overall digital presence while adhering to security and compliance guidelines.
  • Analyze social media data and metrics to identify trends, measure campaign effectiveness, and inform future strategies.
  • Stay informed about current events and public sentiment to ensure communication is relevant.
  • Work closely with other public affairs team members, subject matter experts, and leadership to ensure consistent and accurate messaging.
  • Provide on-call support for nights and weekends on a rotational basis with the team, ensuring 24/7 coverage for time-sensitive communications.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven expertise with current social media platforms, including analytics tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social, or platform-native insights).
  • Proficiency in photography and videography, with hands-on experience using professional cameras and equipment.
  • Advanced skills in video editing with Adobe Premiere Pro and other Adobe tools.
  • Experience creating social media graphics and visual content.
  • Strong organizational skills for assisting with content calendar planning.
  • Ability to work in a secure, government environment; U.S. citizenship and eligibility for security clearance (Public Trust) are required.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of experience in social media management, preferably in marketing, communications, public affairs, government, or military settings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and storytelling.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
